Reinforcement corrosion of circular concrete columns under sustained load

چکیده
This paper presents the results of an experimental study axial capacity circular spirally-reinforced concrete columns that were subjected to accelerated corrosion while sustaining a constant compressive service load. Two sets five each designed with different spiral pitch investigate effect confinement on propagation. Columns non-confining reinforcement had only their longitudinal reinforcing steel corroded, whereas in other set specimens, was corroded and isolated from vertical steel. The cracking initiation, pattern, widening cover monitored for period 4-10 months, relations obtained between crack propagation elastic shortening column mass loss established. After period, eight tested failure under either concentric or eccentric load; deformation, pattern type recorded. specimens characterized by sudden crushing buckling, reduction load 30-40%. failed ductile manner progressive spalling cover, maintaining spite reinforcement.

Addition of steel fibers to high strength concrete (HSC) improves its post-peak behavior and energy absorbing capability, which can be described well in term of toughness. This paper attempts to obtain both analytically and experimentally the efficiency of steel fibers in HSC columns with hybrid confinement of transverse reinforcement and steel fibers. Toughness ratio (TR) to quantify the confi...

متن کاملInfluence of shear reinforcement corrosion on the performance of under-reinforced concrete beams
Reinforced concrete beams are normally designed as under-reinforced to provide ductile behaviour at failure i.e. the tensile moment of resistance, Mt(0), is less than the moment of resistance of the compressive zone, Mc. Since it is well established that the steel in reinforced concrete beams is prone to corrosion, the residual flexural strength is normally the main concern of asset managers. H...
